La Plage — 7-Bedroom Villa in Lorient

La Plage is a seven-bedroom house in Lorient, on the north coast. It sleeps fourteen. I live on the island year-round, so here is what I can tell you plainly: what the villa has, what the village is like, and what it is not. Seven bedrooms is a lot of house, and that shapes who it works for.

Ask about this villa

Lorient, honestly

Lorient is a real village, not a resort strip. There is a school, a church and a shop, and people who live here all year rather than by the week. The beach is bordered by a reef. On one side the water stays calm; at the far end there is surf when the swell comes in. Compared with St-Jean, there is less going on, and fewer people. You will use a car for most things. If you want constant activity outside your door, this is the wrong side of the island.

What I actually know about the house

Seven bedrooms, sleeping fourteen. That is the whole of what I can tell you about the layout. I will not invent how the beds are split, so ask and I will get you the real configuration before you commit. There is a private pool and it is heated, plus a hot tub. The kitchen has an oven and cooktop and a microwave, with a barbecue outside. Air conditioning, wifi and high-speed internet, television. Breakfast is included, and an airport shuttle comes with the booking. A travel cot and an ironing board are available.

Who it suits

A house this size works for two or three families travelling as one group, or anyone who wants a single address instead of several. With fourteen people, the heated pool and the barbecue usually matter more than anything else, because a good share of the week happens at the house. The cot means a baby comes without shipping equipment across the Atlantic. Breakfast being included takes one task off the day. You still need a car, sometimes two; nothing here works on foot beyond the village itself. Anything this page does not answer, ask me and I will check it.

A Real Village, North Coast

Lorient sits on the north coast. It is a working village rather than a resort strip: a school, a church, a shop, and people who live here all year rather than by the week.

The beach is bordered by a reef, and that splits the bay in two. At one end the water stays calm. At the other there is surf when the swell is running. If you expect flat water along the whole beach, that is not how it works here.

It is quieter than St-Jean, with less going on and fewer people. You will need a car here, as you do almost everywhere on the island.

Lorient will not suit you if you want a resort atmosphere, or a row of shops and bars to walk out to in the evening.

What the villa has

Common questions

How are the seven bedrooms arranged, and how do fourteen people fit?

I do not publish a bed layout I cannot verify. Seven bedrooms and fourteen sleeping places is all the file gives me, and guessing the rest would be dishonest. Tell me the group — couples, children, who needs their own room — and I will confirm the actual configuration with the agency before you commit to anything.

Is Lorient a good choice, or should we look elsewhere?

It depends what you want. Lorient has real daily life: a school, a church, a shop, residents who are there in low season. The beach has calm water behind the reef and surf at one end when the swell arrives. It is quieter than St-Jean. If you want a busy scene and lots of walking options, look at St-Jean or Gustavia instead.

Do we need to rent a car?

Yes. The airport shuttle is included, but that covers arrival and departure, not the week. Gustavia, the other beaches and most of what you will want to see are a drive from Lorient. With fourteen guests, plan on more than one vehicle.

Rates

Rates and availability

Rates depend on the season and the length of stay, so I quote them case by case rather than publishing a figure that would be wrong half the year. Tell me your dates and who is travelling, and I come back with the real number and what is still open.
