Rent cars, plan on at least two for fourteen. The beach is on foot, which is the draw here, but the port, most dining and the larger shops are a drive. Lorient's beach is reef-protected at one end and takes surf at the other when the north swell rises, so conditions move through the season; ask me how it looks around your dates. The road through the village is narrow.
