What Marigot is actually like
Marigot is on the northeast coast. It is residential and calm, with little through traffic — people who live there, people staying there, not much else. The cove is small and sheltered, so the water is flat, but it is not somewhere you spend a whole day on a towel. There are no shops in Marigot. You drive to Gustavia or St-Jean for groceries, and you drive for dinner. If your idea of a holiday is stepping out of the house into a village, this is the wrong side of the island. If you want quiet, it is the right one.

Straightforward list. The pool is private, and it is heated. There is an elevator, worth knowing if anyone in the group has trouble with stairs. Air conditioning, wifi and high-speed internet, television. An airport transfer is included, which is one less thing to organise for a group this size. Marigot, on the northeast coast
Marigot sits on the northeast coast, and it is residential — that is essentially all it is. Very little traffic passes through, and there are no shops, no restaurants, nothing commercial. The cove below is small and sheltered, so the water stays calm. You can swim there, but it is not a beach where you settle in for the day: it stays small, and there is no service of any kind.
You drive for everything here. Groceries and the airport mean St-Jean, the port and the shops mean Gustavia, and the flat, reef-sheltered water of Grand-Cul-de-Sac is on the same side of the island. Marigot does not suit you if you want to walk out the door to a restaurant, or if part of your group would rather not get behind a wheel. It suits you if you want silence at night and almost no cars passing.

Is Marigot a good base, or will we feel stuck?
Depends on the group. Marigot is calm, residential and low-traffic, with a small sheltered cove nearby. There are no shops. Everything — food, restaurants, other beaches — means getting in a car, so everyone in the group needs a car or a ride. If you want peace at the end of the day, it works well. If you want to walk to things, it will frustrate you.
Is the airport transfer really included?
