Colombier, and what the view is really of
Colombier sits past Flamands, where the road runs out and the traffic with it. The Source is built for that view: it faces west and down, over the roofs of Flamands and the bay beyond, and on a clear evening you see the islets and the light going down behind them. The beach you would drive to from here is Flamands, a few minutes down the hill, wide and open. Colombier's own beach is the hike-only one at the very end, twenty minutes on foot or arrive by boat. Gustavia and its restaurants are ten to fifteen minutes by car.
What the house has
Six bedrooms sleeping twelve. The house is new, so the kitchen, the air conditioning and the systems are current. There is a pool on the terrace with the view in front of it, an outdoor grill, wifi and high-speed internet throughout, and a television. An airport shuttle is included.
Practical notes before you book
Rent cars. Colombier is residential and nothing is within walking distance, so a group of twelve will want more than one vehicle even with the shuttle included. Flamands beach is close for the mornings; town is a short drive for dinner. Because the house faces the sunset, the late afternoon on the terrace tends to become the fixed point of the day, which is worth knowing when you plan how much you actually leave.
Who this house is really for
A family or a group of friends who want a recent, low-maintenance house with a real view and a beach a few minutes away. Twelve people, six bedrooms, so it suits an extended family or two or three families together rather than a couple. If you want to walk out your door to shops and bars, Colombier is the wrong end of the island and I would rather tell you that now. If you want a quiet, high hillside with Flamands below and Gustavia a short drive off, this is a strong choice.
