What is available in Pointe Milou
The point is built out in individual houses set on rock, and few of them reach a rental list at the same moment, so I keep my own list short on purpose. Brahama is the large one, seven bedrooms. CAP AZUR and DANSE DES ÉTOILES are both five, each built to face the sunset, Cap Azur with a heated infinity pool and a fitness room, Danse des Étoiles with five proper suites and a fitness and massage area. So you now have a choice on this point: a big house for one large party, or a five-bedroom oriented entirely to the view. All of them suit a family or a group travelling together rather than a couple after a small place, and they are my favourites here, not the whole point: ask and I can arrange others. What you accept at this address
Pointe Milou has no beach. None at all, and none within walking distance. If your idea of a holiday is a towel on sand at ten in the morning, this address is the wrong one. The closest sand means getting in the car, and you will do that every day. There is no shop here either, nothing to walk to, so groceries are a drive as well. Houses on this point are built into the slope, so expect steps, which is worth weighing if anyone in the group struggles with them. Booking a large house here works when everyone in the party has accepted those terms before arrival, not when half of them expected to walk to a beach.
Common questions
Pointe Milou or Lorient, which one should I choose?
Lorient is a real village on the north coast, with a school, a shop and a church, and a beach bordered by a reef: calm water at one end, surf at the other when the swell comes in. You can walk out of the house and reach something. Pointe Milou has no beach and nothing within walking distance, but it has the height, the quiet and the views. Choose Lorient if you want to be able to go out on foot. Choose Pointe Milou if you want to be alone with a horizon and do not mind driving. Bear in mind the two areas rarely offer the same house sizes at the same time, so tell me your party size and I will tell you what each one actually has.
Do I really need a car if I stay in Pointe Milou?
Yes. Everything is done by car from here, without exception: beaches, groceries, the port, dinner. The road down the point is narrow and there is nothing at the bottom of it to walk to. And in houses this size, one car will not cover it, a group large enough to fill one of them will want to split up during the day, so plan several vehicles and book them early. If renting cars is not something you want to deal with on this trip, a flatter and more central area will serve you better than this one.
If the house I want is taken for my dates, what else is there?
The houses I keep here are Brahama, Cap Azur and Danse des Étoiles, so there is usually a way to keep you in Pointe Milou if the area is what you are after. If they are all taken, tell me your dates and what matters to you and I will point you to another area rather than sell you the wrong house. If it was the view and the quiet you wanted, Marigot on the north-east coast is residential and calm with a small sheltered cove, and Lurin, on the heights, has the same trade-off as Pointe Milou: no beach reachable on foot, but Gouverneur is a short drive down. If you wanted a beach you can walk to, the answer is a different coast entirely.
